Thanks for your comment - I hope you've managed to get a copy of the latest Operation World by now, or put it on your birthday list! I have to say, now 2,3,4 on the list are a joy to read. They all tell a great story, so I don't think of them as study books per se, and find that I really can read them like a book. The Patrick Johnstone version watered my heart for the nations as child, I found it so exciting to read through and dip into.
